Kayla

My husband tried to convince me for years to work with a dietitian to help me in my low fodmap journey but I was stubborn and thought it was silly to pay someone to help me with what I could research online myself for free... I was stuck in the elimination phase for four years... I knew low fodmap helped me but I was still not feeling well most days. There were missing pieces and my dietitian helped me understand everything so much better! I have had more good days in this journey than I’ve had cumulative in the last year! ModifyHealth has given me knowledge and hope that I can not only tackle some of these issues but find enjoyment in food as well!

How were digestive issues impacting your day-to-day life before you began the ModifyHealth program?

My symptoms would come on in the evening time, generally when my husband would come home from work. My go to would be to lay on the couch and watch him enjoy time with our boys. But because I feel better, I get to jump in on it too!

What difference has participating in the ModifyHealth program made in your day-to-day life?

I can engage more with my kids during the day instead of spending so much time prepping and researching what food items I can/can’t have.

Is there any additional information you would like to share about your story?

I’m thankful to feel like I have knowledge and power to live a different life than the symptom heavy one I felt trapped in.

I had been having a LOT of pain with my IBS-D. My doctor recommended trying the low FODMAP diet. I am busy and single, so cooking healthy - let alone a new and confusing meal plan was just too much for me. ModifyHealth has been a godsend because of that. Healthy, low FODMAP foods that are vacuum-sealed arrive every week. I toss one into the microwave and 2 minutes later it's ready to eat. It couldn't be simpler. My pain is not quite gone, but it is GREATLY improved. Best decision I have made. Do it!

How were digestive issues impacting your day-to-day life before you began the ModifyHealth program?

Sometimes I had pain so bad that I really couldn't work because it was tough to stand or do anything other than curl up in a ball. Now, much, much better.

What difference has participating in the ModifyHealth program made in your day-to-day life?

Pain is not quite gone - but it is 100x better. My diarrhea is gone. I'm having NORMAL bowel movements again. That alone makes this worth it!

I was concerned about the cost of the food - it's more than I would normally pay. However, before I had to go to the store and spend time shopping, looking at the ingredients, then spend time at home preparing the food. Now I don't spend that time. That to me made up the difference in the cost and made this a no-brainer for this busy single lady!

I highly recommend for someone experiencing GI issues to consider trying the Low-FODMAP program. ModifyHealth has been one of the keys to my success. Knowing that ModifyHealth has already done the research to prepare a delicious, nutritious meal that is well packaged has greatly reduced the stress of figuring out the right foods to eliminate.

How were digestive issues impacting your day-to-day life before you began the ModifyHealth program?

For me, the issues that I was experiencing before using ModifyHealth were loose stools, bloating, gas and general discomfort. I was constantly in the restroom when I would go out and just had no idea of the impact of eating certain foods and the effect it was having on my health.

What difference has participating in the ModifyHealth program made in your day-to-day life?

Since joining ModifyHealth and receiving meals as well as a personal dietitian, I have learned so much about eating better as it relates to improving my gut health. I have made it through the elimination phase and ready to begin introducing items from the various food groups back in.

I’ve struggled with GI issues my entire life and tried everything from taking Imodium to various probiotics with little success. I’ve also seen huge improvements to my gut health by going on a Whole Food Plant-Based diet with huge improvements but not until now have I realized that eating nutritious isn’t enough. Now, I realize that there are still foods that while they may be healthy, may not necessarily good for my gut health.
